SOUNDERS FC: Team loses defensive pillar, Marshall called up to national squad

Defender Tyrone Marshall will be in L.A. next week playing for the Jamaican National Team after being called up for the Gold Cup.

Seattle will be without Marshall's services at least between the dates of July 1 and July 19.

Patrick Ianni, who filled in for Jhon Kennedy Hurtado last week, will likely take over for Marshall as the starter.

Marshall tallied an own goal last week against the Columbus Crew and set up New York's lone goal after he failed to clear a ball.

The former Jamaican National Team captain has international 65 caps.

Marshall is the only Sounder to have been called up. L.A., D.C. and Dallas are the only other squads with only one player to serve internationally for this year's Gold cup.

Seattle Times:
Jamaica faces Canada (July 3 in Los Angeles), Costa Rica (July 7 in Columbus, Ohio) and El Salvador (July 10 in Miami) in Gold Cup group play. Knockout rounds begin with the quarterfinals in Philadelphia and Dallas on July 18-19. The semifinals are July 23 in Chicago and the Gold Cup final is July 26 in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
