SEAHAWKS: Thursday mini-camp report - pass rushers impress

This is Seattle's last three-day mini-camp of the offseason. Training camp should begin Aug. 1, and give onlookers a more accurate glimpse of the team. Seahawks.com

One of Aaron Curry's only criticisms leading up to the 2009 draft was his ability to rush the passer. Wake Forest's system simply didn't call for Curry to test his skills disrupting the pocket.

But recent reports from mini-camp suggest that those doubting Curry's pass rush skills might have to take a second look. Danny O'Neil has the best evidence over at his blog, with a video of Curry using his speed to get by Sean Locklear twice.

Brandon Mebane also impresses with a whirlwind spin move on Mansfield Wrotto to rocket by the backup guard.

Eric Williams of the TNT also offered some encouraging news relating to the pass rush.

During the scrimmage, both Brandon Mebane and Red Bryant proved hard to contain by the offensive line, making regular appearances in the backfield.

Wide Receivers

As usual, 2009 third round selection Deon Butler continued to make plays all over the field. On one occasion, the speedy receiver slipped behind equally speedy cornerback Josh Wilson for a touchdown.

While Butler shined, big free agent acquisition T.J. Houshmandzadeh had an uncharacteristic poor showing, dropping two passes.
