Seahawks FB Owen Schmitt was arrested by Black Diamond Police Saturday on suspicion of a DUI.
In a written statement, Schmitt had this to say:
"I sincerely apologize to the team, the NFL, the fans and my family and friends for my actions and my poor judgment," the statement said. "I fully understand the seriousness of this matter, and I am disappointed in myself. I am committed to earning back the trust of everyone affected."
The second-year fullback is competing with veteran Justin Griffith, who signed as a free agent for a one-year deal, to replace the departed Leonard Weaver as the starter.

This is the second time this offseason a Seahawk has been arrested. The first was LB Leroy Hill, who still received a beefy new contract and no further discipline from the league.
Just as with Hill and LB Lofa Tatupu before him, the arrest shouldn't affect Schmitt's place on the team or his chances to start.
Still, Griffith provides stiff competition, and this kind of distraction could hinder Schmitt's path to the starting lineup.
Both players are bruising blockers, but Griffith has experience playing for OC Greg Knapp with the Falcons, which could give him a slight edge.
According to the police press release, he was pulled over after an officer saw him weaving and following too close.
His blood-alcohol content measured 0.151 and 0.161 just after midnight, double the legal limit of 0.08.
His arraignment is scheduled for July 8.
