MARINERS: Series Preview: Seattle Mariners (28-29) vs. Baltimore Orioles (24-33)

_
The Seattle Mariners will be entering Camden Yards Tuesday night with a recent feeling of winning, something this team only managed 61 times last season. Seven of their last 10 games played have been accounted as wins in the M’s book while the opposing Baltimore Orioles were just swept by the Oakland Athletics.

To start off this three-game series will be Mariners left-hander Jason Vargas (2-0; 1.93 ERA) while the O’s are set to use RHP Brad Bergesen (2-2; 4.64 ERA). Vargas has been one of the Mariners' biggest surprises this season since being placed into the rotation during, and likely after, Carlos Silva’s absence.

To continue...

Mariners ace Felix Hernandez (5-3; 3.22 ERA) will be on the mound for Wednesday as the righty will be trying to make his name known for the All-Star game, which is coming up in mid-July. To face “King Felix” will be Baltimore RHP Jeremy Guthrie (4-5; 5.61 ERA).

The Mariners are currently only one game behind the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and five games behind the division leading Texas Rangers.
