MARINERS: Seattle loses as Rockies Jimenez pitches complete game

Walks ended up being the Mariners undoing, as four-of-five walked Rockies batters scored, and the Mariners lost 6-4 today in Colorado.

The Mariners managed to rough up Rockies pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez early, scoring four runs in the first four innings. He would settle down though and gave up only two more hits and no runs to finish off his second-career complete game.

Two fielding errors hurt the Mariners, along with a few other poor fielding plays, including an RBI single given up after the infield rushed the plate in anticipation of a bunt.

To continue...

The Mariners remain last in the league in errors. The loss dropped Jarrod Washburn's record to 3-5, despite a 3.30 ERA. His run support remains amongst the league's worst.

Catcher Rob Johnson returned from injury to go 2-for-3 with an RBI double in the fourth. It would be Seattle's last run of the game.

The Mariners scoring woes aren't surprising. Of the 10 positional players to bat in the game, only four have a batting average of at least .250.

That doesn't include the team's cleanup hitter, Jose Lopez, who went 0-for-4 today, bringing his average to .237 on the season. Despite that, he leads the team in RBIs with 36.

Brandon Morrow will get the start tomorrow in place of injured starter Erik Bedard.
