TUKWILA, Wash. It looks like the Sounders got a bit of positive news as midfielder Brad Evans' knee injury does not appear to be serious.
"It's good news," head coach Sigi Schmid said. "He could be back out trying to do more things tomorrow, or it could be a week, but we doubt it's going to be much longer than that."

This has to be a bit of relief for Sounders FC fans who waited with baited breath for the outcome of the MRI. Most likely, Evans will not play this week, but that is probably not a big surprise to those who watched the pounding Evans took in the second half of last week's match with Dallas.
Having Evans out of the lineup hurts Seattle in that the midfielder is versatile and effective on both sides of the ball. Schmid thinks so as well:
"He's just a player. He can play a lot of different positions. He's pretty comfortable on the field. The thing that I like about him in midfield, is he's a midfielder who's also goal dangerous. He can get forward on goals. In fact, that's how he got hurt, getting forward on a cross ball. So he's an important player for any team. But we have other players who can step in and play. But he's a player that's got good size. He's good in the air, has a decent shot, and he covers a lot of ground and can also defend. So he helps us."
Schmid on other injuries...
On Freddie Ljungberg: "We got to take it day-by-day. He's had a history of these. He knows what it takes to come back. He doesn't get them all that often. It's something that usually happens every year to two years. So right now it's just a matter of him knowing his body, and us being careful so that it doesn't become a long- term thing."
On Zach Scott: "It's more of an abdominal injury, so just trying to again give it a couple of more days. He'll definitely not be in this weekend. He'll be out this weekend. We want to see, make sure, is it a sports hernia or is it just the abdominal? And that's something that we still need a couple of days to decide".
Sounders FC resume training tomorrow morning at Starfire Sports Complex.

Seattle players Freddie Ljungberg, Fredy Montero, Osvaldo Alonso, Tyrone Marshall, Steve Zakuani and Jhon Kennedy Hurtado have also received enough votes to be on the starting 11.
Those selected will participate in the 14th annual MLS All-Star Game and take on Everton of the English Premier League at Rio Tinto Stadium in Sandy, UT, at 9:30 p.m. ET July 29.
