SOUNDERS FC: Around the pitch - Montero narrowly beaten for goal of the week


How could Montero's unassisted header for his first goal in eight weeks lose MLSnet's Goal of the Week honors?

On a free kick, Kansas City's Claudio Lopez threaded a ball just over the heads of the wall and spun it into the top right corner of the net.

Last night the two were tied with a big majority of the vote, but Lopez edged out Montero for the honors.

The player with the highest "score" at the end of the season wins "Goal of the Year." Montero has won the honor twice.
