The Seattle Mariners placed closer Brandon Morrow on the disabled list with bicep tendinitis the Associated Press reports. The move is retroactive to April, 24 which would allow Morrow to return no earlier than May 9th.
Reliever David Aardsma, who joined the club this off-season, is expected to close in the meantime.

Morrow has been bothered by the injury for more than a week. The injury may be more serious than just tendinitis. Morrow didn't even warm up in the bullpen during Friday when a save situation was possible.
Morrow was 0-1 with five saves, eight strikeouts, a 4.05 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP before being placed on the DL.
The Mariners haven't officially named Aardsma the closer but he has converted all three save chances he's had this season. Aardsma also has eight strikeouts, but his ERA is a mere 1.93 and his WHIP is a low 1.07 which is impressive even in just nine innings pitched.
