SOUNDERS FC: Q&A with James Riley

"We are 3-2, it is early in the season and we are
going to keep our heads held high and focus forward
to preparing this week for the upcoming match."

Riley sat down with NSS for a quick interview regarding Saturday's defeat in Los Angeles.

NSS: Was there anything the team could have done differently in the loss?
"Obviously we are disappointed. We thought we matched up well. [Chivas USA] brought a physical aspect trying to take out both of the Freddies.

To Continue...

"After the game we talked about how we didn't combat that and that we needed to send a message to their guys and needing to do a better job at protecting our guys."

NSS: On the own goal:
"It is a game of inches and it is one of those things that happened, but I take full responsibility for sure. I tried to get back and force the ball outside. It flicked off my foot in the opposite direction."

NSS: On Chivas USA's attack:
"I don't think they were that dangerous. They may have possessed the ball a little more, but they did not penetrate that much."

NSS: In terms of the loss:
"We are 3-2, it is early in the season and we are going to keep our heads held high and focus forward to preparing this week for the upcoming match."

NSS: On the Sounders fans:
"The fans supported us through and through even with the loss."

Somehow it got back to Riley and the other players that the fans that watched the matches in the various bars stayed and kept singing until the end of the match.
