On paper, the Sounders' 3-2 reserve match loss yesterday to the USL Portland Timbers appears meaningless.
But, as the team looks to rebound from a 1-0 loss Saturday to the Wizards without goalkeeper Kasey Keller, the loss proved to be disheartening.
Backup keeper Chris Eylander, recovering from a torn knee ligament, played the majority of the game and gave up two goals in the loss.

In post game quotes, head coach Sigi Schmid seemed doubtful of Eylander's ability to start this week against MLS standings leader Chivas USA.
“Even though Chris said he was ready to go, we still felt there were things he couldn’t do,” Schmid said.If Eylander can't go, Washington native Ben Dragavon will get the start. Dragavon entered goal 29 minutes into Saturday's loss to the Wizards after starting keeper Kasey Keller was shown the red card.
Kasey Keller
The New York Times has a great write-up on keeper Kasey Keller's return to the Pacific Northwest.
Keller talks about his red card last Saturday:
"In hindsight, maybe I stay in on line and save the one-on-one, but you make split-second decisions and unfortunately I paid the price for that one.”
