SEAHAWKS: Stafford and Lions a "done deal?"

Pro Football Talk reports Georgia QB Matthew Stafford is telling his friends that an approximate $40-million guaranteed contract with the Lions is a "done deal."

Most pundits and mock draft experts had Stafford going to the Lions, so the rumor doesn't necessarily help clear the Seahawks' draft picture.

The no. 1 pick usually leaks a few days before the draft because the first team choosing normally works on getting the draftee signed before draft day.

Other top draft picks possibly on the Seahawks' radar are the offensive tackle pairing of Jason Smith and Eugene Monroe, two-time Belitnikoff winner Michael Crabtree, top-rated draft prospect Aaron Curry and USC's star quarterback Mark Sanchez.

Other pundits suggest the Seahawks are entertaining a trade down by feigning heavy interest in Sanchez.

By now, all scenarios have been played out across mock draft boards, and the only thing left to do is wait 11 more days for the the draft.

A few weeks ago, another Web site reported the Lions were already working on a contract with Smith, but the report was quickly proven false. Until anything becomes official, it's best to take these "reports" with a grain of salt.
