SEAHAWKS: Seattle's 12 men: why they aren't practicing



Hill is the only player missing from
the optional practice due to contract
negotiations.


The Seahawks have their own version of the 12th man on the sidelines and it's not the rabid, screaming fan edition.

Twelve players are sitting out of camp for various injury related reasons, except for linebacker Leroy Hill who skipped practice due to contract negotiations.

Deion Branch (WR) – Anthroposcopic knee surgery

Leroy Hill (LB) – Contract hold out, practice is optional

Patrick Kerney (DE) – Recovering from November shoulder surgery

Cory Redding (DE/DT) – Recovering from knee and groin injuries that put him on IR in December, team feels comfortable that his knee won’t be a problem in 2009 after ample testing

Mike Wahle (LG) – Recovering from late November shoulder injury

Walter Jones (LT) - Recovering from knee surgery

Brandon Miller (LB) – Recovering from late December wrist injury

D.D. Lewis (LB) – Precautionary, possibly recovering from December shin injury

Brandon Coutu (PK) – Precautionary, possibly recovering from groin injury

Kelly Jennings (CB) – Precautionary, possibly from November groin injury

Michael Bumpus (WR) – Unknown

DeMichael Dizer (CB) – Unknown, Signed as undrafted free agent in 2008

Lewis (leg); LT Walter Jones (knee). Unsure on the injury to DE Brandon Miller, he's done some rehab on his legs and also suffered a wrist injury toward the end of last season.
