At the bottom of arguably one of the best starting rotations in baseball is the 30-year-old rookie Jakubauskas, who will be looking to even his record to 2-2. Although his record may soon be average, nothing else in his baseball career has been.
He had played for Florence Freedom before reaching the Mariners after a Spring Training where he was among the league's top pitchers.
Danks, 24, has usually been among the league as a top left handed starting pitcher, except for when he faces the M’s. In 16 innings, he has a 0-3 record with a 7.92 ERA. Seattle is also one of four American League teams Danks has yet to defeat, the others being Los Angeles, Toronto and Boston.
Russell "The Muscle" Branyan will be in the lineup for the second straight game after a lower back injury resulted in him being benched for five games. Catcher Kenji Johjima will likely return to the roster on Friday, May 1st while LHP Ryan Rowland-Smith’s return date has yet to be announced. He will likely be coming back the same time as Johjima and relief pitcher Cesar Jimenez.
