Adenhart was rushed to University of California, Irvine Medical Center. The crash occurred in California, although it's unclear exactly where.
Just after his first win of the season and fourth major-league start, Adenhart died after undergoing surgery.
He threw six scoreless innings Wednesday night in the 6-4 win over Oakland.
The driver of the minivan fled the crash scene and was captured a short time later, police said. The driver was arrested and booked for investigation of felony hit-and-run.
