Compensatory picks are given every year to teams that have lost more than they've gained in free agency. The players' contracts are used to determine their value. At least 32 are given out every year, and they are based on the previous year's free agent results.
The 49ers received a seventh and fifth rounder, the Cardinals received one seventh rounder and the Rams received none.
