SEAHAWKS: Looking for an immediate impact in the draft? Don't bother



Crabtree, like any other draft pick, is no sure thing, and the odds
are against him being an immediate star.

When evaluating the fourth overall pick in the draft, many 12th Men are looking for the player that will make an immediate impact right out the gate.

Players like that include Michael Crabtree and well, Michael Crabtree. It's easy to desire a player like him at a position like wide receiver. They
make the big plays and are often the most well-known players in the league.

But how much of an impact would Crabtree have in his first year?

Here's a look at how the wide receivers taken in the top 10 in the past 10 years have done.

None of them managed to crack 1,000 yards and none made the Pro Bowl. And there are certainly more than a few busts on the list, but that's a discussion for another time.

Obviously, the immediate impact isn't the only reason to draft Crabtree, but it's definitely a driving motivation for many.

Of course, no one will admit this. Most will claim he's the best player available and a sure thing. But then, so were Charles Rogers and David Terrell, and Peter Warrick, and David Boston, and Mike Williams...
