MLS Commissioner Don Garber, on the MLS Website, announced today that Vancouver, BC will be home to the 17th team in Major League Soccer in 2011. The team will play in the BC Place Stadium in downtown Vancouver, which will have new renovations by the team's inaugural season.
Vancouver is currently home to Seattle's former USL Division 1 rival Whitecaps FC.
This is the first of two announcements for MLS expansion in 2011, with Portland also in the hunt for a Major League Soccer club.
