It’s been officially announced that single game tickets for the Sounder’s home opener on March 19 sold out this morning. If anyone was still doubting the viability of Major League Soccer in Seattle, hopefully they just got their answer.
The team also announced that the opening game will have an increased capacity of 32,400 seats due to the demand for tickets. For the remainder of the season, there will be 27,700 seats available for each Sounders home game at Qwest Field.

Although this means the Sounders will have one of the larger seating capacities in MLS, it is a good decision because fans are starting to get behind their new sports franchise.
With more than 20,000 season tickets sold and many more fans planning to buy single game tickets, it’s possible the Sounders could be among the top teams in attendance this year.
The Sounders will open the season against the New York Red Bulls on March 19 before hosting Real Salt Lake for another home game on March 28.
