The Sounders FC dominated the University of Portland Pilots Friday night with a score of 4-1.
Former Portland Pilots forward Nate Jaqua and goalkeeper Kasey Keller received a welcoming recognition before the match and the alumnus both responded with strong performances.
Jaqua had an immediate goal in the 4th minute and Keller had a shutout during the first half of play.
Sounders FC starting lineup: Kasey Keller, Evan Brown, Patrick Ianni, Tyson Wahl, Zach Scott, Sanna Nyassi, Stephen King, Densil Theobald, Ryan Caugherty, Nate Jaqua (Roger Levesque 35), Jeff Clark.
Goals:
Forward, and University of Portland grad, Nate Jaqua headed a cross from Sanna Nyassi for a quick 1-0 lead in the 4th minute.
On a 32nd minute corner kick, defender Evan Brown sent the kick into the box where after a block from the Pilots' goalkeeper, forward Jeff Clark headed the rebound into the open side of the net.
The Pilots' Logan Emory scored from a free kick 28 yards out in the 63rd minute.
Forward Fredy Montero scored on a spot kick in the 71st minute.
Finally in the 75th minute, forward Roger Levesque's shot at goal bounced to midfielder Brad Evans who ended the scoring with a goal.
Final: Sounders FC, 4-1.
