SEAHAWKS: Front office not close to making decision on Hill, and lots of other news

Eric Williams has a rundown of Jim Mora’s interview on KJR this morning and a few noteworthy tidbits came out of the broadcast concerning free agency.

This is what Mora had to say about re-signing Leroy Hill.
We have not come to a conclusion yet, at all. As a matter of fact, I wouldn’t say that we’re close yet. Now we have worked through a million different scenarios, but we haven’t nailed anything down, and we don’t need to for at least another week or so.
The Seahawks have until Feb. 22 to name a franchise player and the free agency period begins Feb. 27.

Engram, the secondary, and more...

Of course, Hill's impending marijuana charge affects his value to the team, and Mora noted it in the interview.

Engram
Mora still managed to compliment Hill's skill on the field during the interview, something he didn't quote do when mentioning free agent Bobby Engram, calling Engram a "great role model."

This is the latest indication that the team may be looking to move on from the 36-year-old, who had a sub-par 2008 season.

The Secondary
Mora also spoke about the secondary, saying he was more disappointed in other parts of the defense than the highly scrutinized 2008 secondary (hint hint defensive line play). This echos some of what I wrote about in my John Marshall article that will be published tomorrow on a Raiders blog. I'll link it for you when it's up.

Hasselbeck
Mora also thinks Hasselbeck should be 100% come training camp and has met with Knapp six or seven times already. He described Hasselbeck as motivated:
So when a guy is motivated like Matt is, then you feel like there’s a glimmer of hope. He’s extremely motivated to be healthy. And he’s extremely motivated to regain his status as a great player.
So am I. Mora also said they will not look for a QB in free agency. Instead they will focus on drafting the QB of the future.

This of course confirms that the franchise will probably not be moving forward with Seneca Wallace as a possible future starter. This raises all kinds of questions like, 'will they utilize Wallace as a WR', 'start wildcatting him', 'or make a trade?"
