SEAHAWKS: Alexander to be inducted in Senior Bowl hall of fame

Can't touch this!

It's about time we heard something about ex-Seahawks great Shaun Alexander. This coming Friday, Jan. 23, Shaun will be inducted into the Senior Bowl hall of fame.

Alexander had a spectacular college career and a damn fine NFL career, too. He finished with 100 TDs in nine NFL Season and was league MVP in 2005 during the Seahawks' Super Bowl run.

His overall skill and commitment can be debated forever (and has), so we'll skip all that and congratulate Alexander.

Redskins Jason Taylor will also be inducted.

Mobile, AL. (Jan. 15)---The Senior Bowl Hall of Fame will add two new members to its prestigious group next week with the induction of NFL greats Jason Taylor and Shaun Alexander. The two inductees will be honored during a ceremony sponsored by Regions Bank and Mobile Gas at the RSA Towers on Friday, January 23rd.

The class of 2009 brings the total number of Senior Bowl Hall of Famers to 94. It's a group that includes football greats such as Brett Favre, Walter Payton and Dan Marino to name a few. "With the addition of Shaun and Jason, the Senior Bowl Hall of Fame further exemplifies the elite talent that comes to Mobile each January," Senior Bowl President and CEO Steve Hale said. "We are excited that these two outstanding football players are returning to the place where their professional careers essentially began."

The 19th overall pick by the Seattle Seahawks in 2000, Shaun Alexander arrived in Mobile for the Senior Bowl after a spectacular career at the University of Alabama. Alexander is a three-time Pro Bowl selection and in 2005 was named NFL MVP. In nine NFL seasons, Alexander has 9,453 rushing yards and 100 rushing touchdowns.

Alexander's best season to date came in his MVP season in 2005 when he led the NFL in rushing yards (1,880) and rushing touchdowns (27). That same year he helped lead the Seahawks to Super Bowl XL, where they eventually lost to the Pittsburgh Steelers. After eight seasons in Seattle, Alexander signed with the Washington Redskins in October.
