SEAHAWKS: Locklear, Hill, Hasselbeck unlikely to play against Jets

During Holmgren's Monday presser, he confirmed that Sean Locklear dislocated his toe on the last play of Sunday's game. Locklear will not practice this week, said Holmgren, calling it a "challenge" for him to get ready to play. He also said QB Matt Hasselbeck will be the third string QB this week and LB Leroy Hill is doubtful.

Locklear has a chance to go on injured reserve, which would make him the 5th offensive linemen to go on the list. Currently, 4 out of 5 starters are on the list.

Holmgren said he would get Hasselbeck back in the mix before the season ended and NSS predicted a week 16 return, but it's looking less and less likely, with Wallace emerging as a capable and fiery backup.

Hill probably won't play again, which is good for the Seahawks for a couple reasons. Hill has been called the best linebacker on the team by his fellow teammates and is truly a top-tier linebacker in the league, but he doesn't get much of the spotlight because he is an outside linebacker rather than the inside, who calls the defensive formations.

The less he plays, the smaller his potential contract will be next season as he enters free agency. It will also generate less interest in him among other teams, giving us a better chance of retaining him and also letting us absorb less of a salary cap hit.
