During Holmgren's final press conference he had this to say on the 2008 Seahawks season, among other things.
I told the players yesterday and I told my staff yesterday in separate meetings that what happened this year as far as wins and losses, it shouldn't happen again. It really shouldn't happen again, because no one will get injured like we got injured this year. It hasn't happened to me in 25 years, it's not going to happen again. But I did tell the players this: "If you think that was the only reason that our record was what it was, then we're making a huge mistake."
He went on to say that the top players needed to step it up this year. So what great players didn't play so great? How about the entire defense.

Lofa had his worse year as a Seahawk, granted he was in a cast for most of the year. Trufant, although having some good games, also got torched too many times (Remember two days ago?). Julian Peterson struggled to begin the season making tackles. But who really was left after the injuries?
Our other elite players (Walter Jones, Hasselbeck, Deion Branch (kinda) and Patrick Kerney) were all sidelined for much of the year. When they did play they were often not healthy.
So is the bulk of the blame on the elite players? Or shall we place most of it on the injury plague? Sound off!
